New Horizons Nashua Gives Back to Homeless of New Hampshire
Nashua, NH, Wednesday, September 23, 2010 – This past Tuesday, New Horizons Computer Learning Center of Northern New England delivered a donation to New Horizons for New Hampshire, a nonprofit organization serving the homeless of New Hampshire.
New Horizons Computer Learning Center provides technical training to information technology, office, healthcare and project management professionals. Student Services Coordinator Jill Knight began a donation collection 5 years ago from the center’s employees who chose to wear jeans on Fridays. At the end of each year, this “jeans money” is given to an organization in need that consistently makes positive steps to help the community.
“Giving back to our community in Nashua and greater New England is a passion at our center,” said Steve Appleby, president of New Horizons Computer Learning Center. “With our names being so similar, we knew we wanted to further our connection and give to the New Horizons for New Hampshire cause.”
New Horizons for New Hampshire houses, organizes and runs a soup kitchen, food pantry and homeless shelter in Manchester. Each day, 200 meals are served from the soup kitchen and up to 79 homeless men and women sleep in the shelter’s dormitories. The food pantry provides food to over 700 households each month.
In addition to these facilities, New Horizons for New Hampshire also operates Angie’s, a homeless shelter and personal development program for women. Angie’s houses up to 16 residents at a time and helps them make efforts to return to permanent housing and independent living. The New Horizons Computer Learning Center donation will go towards the needs of Angie’s.
